Long story short, my Z won't boost over .03bar and blows blue smoke (yes, my turbos are only ~16 months old). I am pulling the engine tomorrow and expect to find that the turbos are blown (since it doesn't smell like burnt oil, I'd love to find that there's simply something blocking an air passage of some sort, but that's a high hope and we all know it). For those who don't know, I have HKS GT2530 turbos, which are ball bearing. I can't afford to replace them (this happened at the worst possible time for me financially), so my only option is to rebuild. Who should I have do this? I know there are local places that do turbo work, but I don't know who would be the best. Should I send the turbos to a place like Specialty Z or Z1 and let them take care of it (can they even do that?), is there a better place I should send them (a place you [the TT.NET members] trust or perhaps Garrett or Turbonetics), or should I try to get a rebuild kit from HKS and do it myself (I feel capable enough to do this, however, I'd trust a "professional" more than myself to do something that requires this level of precision). What kind of cost am I looking at for this anyway? I've never priced rebuilding, and considering how little time I had with this, I didn't think I'd have to worry about it any time soon. Any input is very welcome. Thanks in advance.
